The Office of Student Activities at The College of New Jersey invites applications for the full-time position of Brower Student Center Manager, reporting to the Director of Student Activities within the Office of the Dean of Students, Division of Student Affairs.

The Brower Student Center Manager will work collaboratively with the Director of Student Activities to develop a comprehensive, student focused program for the facility that addresses the needs and desires of the students, residential and commuter, in enhancing educational, cultural, and developmental social interaction. Together, the BSC Manager and Director will work to position the Student Center as an integral part of the educational mission of the College by ensuring that use of the facility complements the academic experience by offering an extensive and diverse array of student activities, leadership development opportunities, etc. The BSC Manager will assume overall responsibility for the implementation and promotion of the program vision to create a vibrant and welcoming living-learning environment for students. In that capacity, the incumbent will supervise two Student Center Assistant Managers (day and evening), as well as student managers, and student staff, and create a team approach to Student Center program implementation. The BSC Manager is also charged with overall responsibility for scheduling the use of the facility and maintaining the Student Center Master Calendar.

The BSC Manager will also assume overall responsibility for the daily administrative and financial operations of the facility, including developing and administering budgets, managing the purchasing function for the facility, managing in-house service providers, conducting long-range planning for facility preservation/renovation, and developing and enforcing policies, procedures, and standards of operation for the facility. The BSC Manager will also coordinate with the Student Finance Board to monitor funds and account receivables for student groups. Additionally, the incumbent will serve as an administrative liaison with users of the facilities, including student organizations, and academic and administrative units.

Bachelors degree required; masters degree preferred in college student personnel services, business administration, or related field. A minimum of five years of demonstrated successful experience in managing programming and operations for a college or university student center or student union facility. Excellent managerial/supervisory, organizational, and communication skills; ability to relate well to student groups; commitment to educational goals of program activities; knowledge of student union philosophy; understanding of and the ability to apply student development and learning outcomes theories; awareness of and commitment to the educational and cultural benefits of diversity. Evening and/or weekend hours are routine based on the events scheduled. Competitive salary commensurate with education and experience.
