Description
The School of Culture and Society at The College of New Jersey invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in American Politics, specifically Public Opinion and Voting Behavior, to begin in August 2010.
The successful candidate will be responsible for effective teaching, innovative research and service to The College. Specific teaching responsibilities include courses in public opinion and voting behavior; Congressional process and campaigns; interest groups; and/or research methods and design. An active research agenda in one of these areas is essential. Additional interests in political theory are desirable. Candidates should have a strong commitment to undergraduate education in a liberal arts environment and should be able to support campus-wide initiatives such as the first-year seminar and mentored undergraduate research. The typical teaching load is three courses per semester in addition to other duties such as advising, although faculty members can submit competitive proposals for course reduction to allow more time for scholarship.
Ph.D. degree preferred; ABDs will be considered only if degree will be granted by time of appointment. All candidates must demonstrate development of and plans for a research program that integrates teaching and scholarly interests.
