Description
The Department of Biology at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites outstanding applicants for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Physiology starting August 2010.
Teaching and research are mutually supportive activities at TCNJ. Candidates should be strongly committed to the teacher-scholar model in a primarily undergraduate, residential institution and to maintaining both high quality teaching and an active and productive research program involving highly motivated undergraduates. Faculty members also serve as academic advisors and have service responsibilities within the College. A research laboratory and competitive start-up funds will be provided. The Biology Department is housed in a modern science complex that offers state-of-the-art teaching laboratories, research laboratories and spaces, and instrumentation. For further information about our Biology program, please visit: www.tcnj.edu/~biology/.
We seek a broadly trained physiologist who has the potential to both establish a highly visible undergraduate research program and collaboratively contribute to interdisciplinary curricular and scholarly efforts within the School of Science and at the College. The successful candidate will teach a junior/senior-level systems-based course in animal physiology and develop a second upper-level course based on area of expertise. Additional teaching responsibilities will include rotation through introductory biology courses. Human Anatomy and Physiology will not be part of the teaching responsibilities for this position. Research in any area of physiology will be considered. A Ph.D. is required and post-doctoral experience is preferred; ABDs will be considered only if the degree will be completed prior to start date.
