The School of Education at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty member, assistant professor rank preferred, in urban education with an elementary school focus to begin in August 2010.
The successful candidate should be qualified to teach in the departments new program that is focused on preparing teacher candidates for urban environments. Ideally, this candidate will be able to teach a variety of education courses, including those focusing on teaching in an urban setting. She or he will have a proven record of excellence in teaching in the college classroom and K-6 setting as well as at least three years experience in an urban environment. Preference will be given to those candidates with TESL experience.
In addition to an earned doctorate in education or a closely related field, the successful candidate will have a successful research agenda, a proven record of excellence in teaching in an early childhood or elementary school setting, and a record of successful teaching in the college classroom. Candidates will also demonstrate a willingness and capability of implementing technology in delivering instruction. Candidates who are ABD will be considered only if they are in an advanced stage of dissertation preparation and all degree requirements will be completed by June 30, 2010.
